    Dolomedes fimbriatus (Clerck, 1757)      [urn:lsid:amnh.org:spidersp:019601]
    Description
    Male palp with median bulbal apophysis having parallel sides. Tibial apophysis ± pointed and never grooved on margin. Embolus basally without process. Epigyne with uniformly dark and haired median part, 2 bright spots in its anterior half.

    Body length male: 9-15 mm, Body length female: 9-22 mm

    Additional information
    in swampy areas, on still and slowly flowing waters, in alluvial forests, bog forests. Lurks on the water surface near plants for insects, tadpoles and small fishes, dives when in danger, cocoon (up to 1000 eggs) guarded by female, attached to vegetation and surrounded by web
